Milestone 10
Hours: 22
This week we pushed right to the end of the week to get it done. I continued to work a lot on the audio, as well as models. Really we were trying to bring everything we did together, and add some extra functionality and features wherever we could.
The overall project has been a lot of fun, but not without its challenges. I think the largest challenge that I ran into personally, was learning how to make music as I went. None of us had very much experience doing audio, so I took on that role and it was tough. I did some research and had some conversations with musicians and audio engineers to try and help, but still a massive learning curve. I ended up being really happy with how the audio turned out, despite my lack of skill in that area. I put in the work and I felt like the outcome of that work was reflected well.
The biggest success I think we had as a group was actually completing our project. Not just to a basic level, but we went further than just the MVP. There is obviously still things we wish we had time to add and refine, but where we've reached by this point has been really good. An incredible Journey (pun intended) it has been to put it all together. Seeing the starting area, the actual path and the gallery all come together with sounds and models. Having our own personalized God in the experience with a voice and animations has also felt like a really large success. I worked with our voice actress to get it recorded and edited and I think that turned out to be one of the most intriguing and best parts of our experience. We also found that the gallery looks really good after more and more people add their polyguy and we're really proud of what we made.
I think just a little extra section, was what I've learned throughout the process. A massive part is just how to do audio, but also to make sure that I'm optimizing everything. While other programs that I would use may be more powerful than a browser, and I may not need to be making my games functional for mobile, seeing the importance of optimization has been incredible.
